Today is FRIDAY which means it’s a Five Minute Friday party over at Kate’s! Five Minute Friday is where you free write for five (ish) minutes on the word of the day and then link up with other writers and read their stuff. Y’all– It’s literally the best.
Today’s word is :
//There are days when ‘ordinary’ feels so thick in the air- you can almost taste it.
Someday it’s sweet, and other days it feels so bitter.
Some days, the mundane is a comfort and other days it’s a hovering cloud that makes you feel stuck.
Some days I am content with the ordinary and other days I am craving something more… extraordinary. I think there’s this thing in all of our hearts that wants something more.
Because we were made for more.
But what if it’s not necessarily doing more, being more, or even taking part in more significant things that fill this desire inside of us? What if it’s just being more aware of the extraordinary that is already happening around us? When we begin enjoying the moments around us for what they really are, I believe our lives begin to feel more significant.
Enjoy the waking up and the activity—because there’s still a beating heart and breathing lungs with a mission to fulfill.
Enjoy the cleaning and the changing diapers and the grease stained counters – because there’s hungry mouth’s to feed, and a mission to raise up little legacy’s who might just change the world someday.
Enjoy the cranky customers, the mounds of paperwork, and the endless phone calls—because there’s productivity to celebrate and people to love, serve and demonstrate kindness to.
Enjoy the season you’re in—because you might not see it again. There’s always a sweetness and a struggle to every season. Soak up the sweetness.
Enjoy the little, and enjoy the great. Absorb the blessings of the ordinary, everyday, mundane things. When our eyes are wide open for God’s gifts in the plain, we see that He really is in everything.
Thus, our days begin to feel more extraordinary, because we’re looking for Him in everything.\\
